Spending Tracker
A private, personal credit-card spending tracker built and operated by O'Meara Labs.
What this is
Spending Tracker is a small automated tool that watches personal credit card accounts and sends a plain-language weekly summary of how much has been spent this billing cycle, plus a heads-up if spending crosses 75% or 100% of a monthly budget target. It runs on personal infrastructure (AWS), pulling balance and statement data directly from the card issuers via Plaid, a bank-data provider. There is no public sign-up, no advertising, and no third-party subscriber list — it exists to keep family members informed about their own shared spending.
Who receives messages
Only the phone numbers and email addresses the account owner has explicitly configured receive messages — a closed list consisting of family members. There is no public opt-in form; numbers are added directly by the person who owns and operates this tool.
Message frequency & sample message
Roughly 4–8 text messages per month: one weekly digest, plus occasional threshold alerts when spending crosses a budget checkpoint. Message and data rates may apply.
Opt-out & help
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or HELP for support — both are handled automatically by Amazon SNS. For anything else, reach out at james.w.omeara+omearalabs@gmail.com.
Privacy & data use
- Phone numbers and email addresses are used only to deliver these alerts — never sold, shared, or used for marketing.
- Financial data is read-only via Plaid and is used only to compute the spending figures shown in each message.
- No data collected here is shared with any third party beyond the infrastructure providers (AWS, Plaid) required to run the service.
